Balmoral Castle

Glamis Castle

Aberdeen & Grampian

Balmoral Castle was bought by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria in 1852 and after demolishing the original castle it was completed in 1856.

The Balmorals original history dates from 1390 and was built by Sir William Drummond and the last owner of the original castle was the 2nd Earl of Fife.

It is still very much a Royal retreat and is visited frequently by members of the royal family. Usually during the summer season members of the royal family visit as a vacation home.

Today visitors to the estate are welcome and you can take an audio tour of both the castle and the grounds. This gives you a story of the estate and it is available in several languages.
