The main path of the Speyside way runs from Aviemore to Buckie and it is some 65 miles in length. There is also the option to take separate paths off the main track to Tomintoul (15 miles) and Dufftown (4 miles).
This path take around 7 days to complete depending on whether you go direct to Buckie or take the detour to Tomintoul and Dufftown. It takes you from the Highlands across Speyside and the whisky capital of the world.
The fist day is the shortest walk and it starts in Aviemore which is on the main Inverness to Edinburgh Rail route. You enjoy some spectacular scenery here as the area is surrounded by the cairngorm mountain range. The start point for the walk is the police station and you walk through a woodland trail to Boat of Garten.
The next day is still a relatively short day and it takes you the chance to see some fantastic wildlife at the Abernethy Nature Reserve. You end up at Grantown on Spey which is one of the larger towns on the route.
