Royal Botanic Garden
The Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh date back to the 17th century and they are filled with numerous plant species that are both native and foreign. To explore the full site will take the best part of a day and the gardens are split into numerous sections. There is a rock garden with waterfall, Chinese Hillside with a range of unusual plants and the Queen Mother Memorial Garden which has plants from all over the world.
The gardens are free to visit, the only paid area is the 25 Glasshouses which have a great collection of tropical species. There is also a couple of cafes on site and the Gateway restaurant which serves food all day.
