| Aberlour is situated in the Moray region of Scotland and its full name is actually "Charlestown on Aberlour". The main industries here are shortbread and whisky, with it being in what is known as whisky country (due to the large amount of distilleries in the vicinity)
The Walker family has been making shortbread since 1898 and after years of perfecting the recipe for the perfect shortbread the business quickly expanded. It was exporting shortbread to over 60 countries by the 1970's and is still well known for its excellent shortbread to this day.
There is a whisky distillery in the village which makes the Aberlour Malt whiskeys aged from 10 to 30 year olds. The distillery has been producing whisky since 1879 when it was founded by James Fleming and you can now see how its is made with a trip to the visitors centre which opened in October 2000.
