Stirling and Perthshire
Callander is situated on the River Teith in the region of Stirling in central Scotland, it is often referred to as the "gateway to the highlands". It is also the main eastern gateway to the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park which is the 4th largest national park in Britain and one of only two national parks in Scotland.

Callenders history dates back many years, in 2001 archaeologists uncovered evidence of an early farming settlement that dated back to 4000 BC. In 1745 Callander was part of the Duke of Perth's estate and he supported the Jacobite rebellion led by Bonnie Prince Charlie. The subsequent defeat of his army in 1746 led to the estate being forfeited and run by the English government.

Callander gained more notoriety in the 1960's when it was used as the location for the popular TV show Dr Finlays Casebook. It had always been a popular tourist destination ever since literary figures such as Sir Walter Scott had visited and were inspired by the wonderful natural scenery found in the Trossachs area.
