Dundee and Angus
Carnoustie is situated in the Angus region of Scotland, it is a small town with a population of around 13,000. The town of Carnoustie was only founded in the late 18th centaury although the areas history dates to well before that.

The town was the site of the Battle of Barry which a Scots army led by Malcolm defeated a Danish army in 1010 AD. The Danes had destroyed most of the nearby Brechin before heading south, towards Carnoustie.

Carnoustie is probably best known for golf, with it even rivalling St Andrews with The Carnoustie Golf Club being founded here in 1842. But the first records of golf being played here dates from 1560 and there are now 4 golf courses in the town and many more nearby.
