Dufftown is a burgh in Banffshire in the North east of Scotland and it is perhaps best known as being the "Whisky Capitol of the world". This claim is not disputed and it does produce more malt whisky than any other town in Scotland with five distilleries in close proximity to the town.

The towns history dates back to 1817 when it was built by James Duff, 4th Earl of Fife, its perfect water source meant that its was ideal for the distilling of whisky and due to this it has gone on to overshadow its older and more established neighbouring towns of Mortlach and Balve.

The largest of the distilleries and also the only one with a visitors centre is the Glenfiddich distillery. This is Dufftown's largest employer and the Glenfiddich brand is world renowned, it was also the first to market a single malt whisky outside of Scotland, before it was only blended whisky that was marketed abroad.
