Air
There is not an airport in Perth but its geographically central location means that’s Scotland’s two main international airports of Glasgow and Edinburgh are in easy travelling distance.
Train
The train station is about a 15 minute walk from the city centre and from here you can catch a direct train to all of the main cities in Scotland including Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The best way to get around Perth is by walking, the city is pretty compact and the shops, pubs and clubs are all in easy walking distance. There are buses that run but unless you are planning on visiting an attraction outside of Perth such as Scone Palace you should not require transportation to get around. |

Caithness Glass factory
There is no one main attraction in Perth but there are no shortage of things to see and do. Why not start with the well known and respected Caithness Glass factory, here you can see glass blowing taking place as hand crafted paperweights takes shape. Then you can visit the gift shop and pick up one of the crafted objects for an authentic made in Scotland souvenir.

Scone Palace
Although not within Perth as such, the 3 mile journey out to Scone Palace is well worth a visit. Tours are available and you will find a guide in each room to give you a history of the room and answer any question you may have.

History and Horror tour
If you are looking for something a little more unique then you may want to book on a History and Horror tour. It runs on Friday and Saturday night and it explores Perth’s dark past through your storytelling guide for 80 minutes.

There are no hostels within Perth but there are still some low cost B&Bs available to those on a budget. Try out the Gables for only £25 per person or if you want a budget hotel you cant go wrong with the respectable Ramada Jarvis which is located in the heart of the city from £50 per night.
If its high quality accommodation you are looking for then there is no need to look past the 4 star Parklands Hotel. It has a good location and you would be looking at just under £100 a night. |

Where to eat really depends on what you are looking for as you will find that you can satisfy most tastes in Perth. If you want food with a view you cant go wrong with some old fashioned pub grub at the Capital Asset. It great for catching lunch on a summers day as you can look out over the River Tay.
If you want good cheap food with big portions in an informal environment then Sportsters is your best bet. You can go for a burger with fries or some Fajitas, you are sure not to leave hungry.
If you want something a little more formal and up market then go and try the Bothy, traditional Scottish food in a clean European furnish environment. |

Although not being renowned for a shopping centre there is a good selection of shop to choose from in Perth. Most of the main names such as Boots and W.H.Smith are located along the High Street where the indoor St Johns shopping centre is located. There is also St Catherine’s Retail park which has a good selection of shops and is easily walkable from the city centre, although you can catch the 9/10 bus service from Mill street to get there if you wish. |

Pubs
There is a vibrant nightlife within Perth and you will find no shortage of places to “party” within the city centre. Depending on what you are looking for you can try the constantly busy Foundry which is next to the Odeon cinema. Then there is the sports themed Sportsters located across the road, with good priced drink in a laid back atmosphere. If you want a more upmarket then check out The Sandeman along Kinnoul street.
Clubs
For late night clubbing there are a few options, The City is quite lively and is located above Sportsters. The most well know club is the Ice Factory which has 3 levels and is known as being a great place to dance the night away. |
