Air
The nearest airport is Edinburgh and you can get a bus from there to the city centre then take the X60 direct to Leven.
Train
The nearest train station is Markinch which is on the Edinburgh to Inverness line. It is only about a 10 minute drive away by car.
Bus
The main bus station has recently been renovated and it is situated to the south of the high street in the centre of town. This is the main transport hub in Leven, times are displayed at the station but you can also check www.travelinescotland.com. |

| If you are staying in Leven everything is within walking distance, if you want to explore the surrounding area then the Stagecoach buses service most routes. Check out the travel Scotland website, the X60 runs direct to Edinburgh and the X27 has a direct route to Glasgow. |

The main attractions are in the area surrounding Leven, most of these are a short drive away by car or bus.
Sconnie Golf Course
Used as a qualifying course for the Open Championship, this 18 hole course offers some challanging par 3 holes and some fantastic views.
Hill of Tarvit
A large 20th century house with a fine art collection and extensive grounds, here you have the chance to explore several rooms in the house and get a feel for what life was like in 20th century Scotland.

Falkland Palace
A favoured retreat for the Stuart Monarchy, such as Mary Queen of Scots as they hunted wild boar from its foundation in the 16th century. Today you can explore the palace and the grounds which surround it in this wonderfully maintained property.

Budget/Backpackers
For the backpacker there is one hostel in St Andrews called the St Andrews Tourist Hostel which offers dorm accommodation from £14.50. There is also a wide selection of B&B or Guest House accommodation from the 4 star Braeside House from £39 per person to the less expensive Acorn from £27 per person.
Luxury
There are two fantastic luxury 5 star Hotels to choose from in St Andrews, The Old Course Hotel and The Fairmount. The Old Course as the name suggests is located along the Old Course with rooms over looking the famous gold course. Every room here is of the highest quality and the price reflects this with a room not going for under £289. A couple of miles outside St Andrews, The Fairmount offers similar facilities with it overlooking 2 gold courses a room here starts at £240. |

Caladonian Hotel, Has a good menu at reasonable prices, suitable for Lunch or Dinner.
Agenda, formerly the Stepping Wolf Bar, now a quaint bistro with a bright and airy atmosphere inside and a varied menu. Main courses start at around £9, a little pricey for what you get.
Upper Largo Hotel, The Hotel is Situated on entry to the small town of Upper Largo only five miles from Leven (you can catch the 95, X60 or X24 buses). Here you will find some of the best food in the area, an extensive menu with good portions and a warm welcome from the friendly staff. |

There are a few shops which are mostly all on the High Street in Leven, there is also an Argos and Homebase a short walk away. If you want a wider selection of shops then you can catch a bus to Kirkcaldy or Glenrothes.

Pubs
McPhails, A good place to watch any sports events that are on, with multiple TVs, including a main screen plasma. There are often good drinks specials such as £1 for a bottle of Stella. There are often bands playing on a Friday and Saturday night, you only pay a small cover charge to get in, around £5.
Caledonian Hotel, Referred to locally as the Cally, this is always a busy happening pub/club. Drinks are a little more expensive compared to the other bars in Leven but there is a always a good atmosphere inside. A local D.J provides music on the weekends, there is a small dance floor for you to strut your stuff!
Clubs
There are really any clubs in Leven since the Justice Nightclub closed down, however Brannigans does stay open till 2am. The nearest nightclubs are in Kirkcaldy which is about a 30 minute drive or a £25 Taxi ride away. |
